Condorul andin (Vultur gryphus) este o specie de p\u0103s\u0103ri din familia Cathartidae, unicul reprezentant al genului monotipic Vultur. Este r\u0103sp\u00e2ndit \u00een mun\u021bii Anzi \u0219i pe coasta vestic\u0103 a Americii de Sud. Are cele mai mari dimensiuni dintre toate p\u0103s\u0103rile din emisfera vestic\u0103.<br \/>Pas\u0103rea are un penaj\u2060(d) negru-str\u0103lucitor, cu un \u201eguler\u201d alb \u00een jurul g\u00e2tului \u0219i cu margini pufoase, albe, ale aripilor, eviden\u021biate la masculi. Pe cap \u0219i pe cea mai mare parte a g\u00e2tului, penele aproape lipsesc, iar pielea goal\u0103 din aceste locuri cap\u0103t\u0103 nuan\u021be de la pal-roz p\u00e2n\u0103 la ro\u0219u-cafeniu, \u00een func\u021bie de starea emo\u021bional\u0103 a condorului. Masculii au \u201ecercei\u201d la g\u00e2t \u0219i o creast\u0103 ro\u0219ie-\u00eentunecat\u0103, destul de mare. Unii dispun \u0219i de o excrescen\u021b\u0103 \u00een zona ciocului. Femelele sunt mai mari dec\u00e2t masculii, lucru des \u00eent\u00e2lnit la p\u0103s\u0103rile de prad\u0103.<br \/>Pot zbura la altitudini de peste 5.000 de metri, folosind curen\u021bii de aer pentru a plana ore \u00eentregi f\u0103r\u0103 s\u0103 bat\u0103 din aripi.<br \/>Joac\u0103 un rol esen\u021bial \u00een ecosistem, fiind un sanitar al naturii care ajut\u0103 la prevenirea r\u0103sp\u00e2ndirii bolilor prin consumul cadavrelor de animale.<br \/>Tr\u0103iesc \u00een perechi \u0219i au o singur\u0103 ou\u0103 la doi ani, ceea ce face ca recuperarea popula\u021biilor s\u0103 fie dificil\u0103.<br \/>Puii sunt dependen\u021bi de p\u0103rin\u021bi timp de un an, ceea ce este neobi\u0219nuit pentru p\u0103s\u0103ri.<br \/>Condorul Andin este simbolul na\u021bional al
