Spre deosebire de majoritatea speciilor de lemuri, ace\u0219tia sunt foarte activi la sol, nu doar \u00een copaci. Aceste grupuri sunt extrem de sociale, cu interac\u021biuni complexe. Ierarhia este stabilit\u0103 de obicei \u00een tinere\u021be, toate femelele fiind dominante peste masculi. Comunicarea dintre lemurii cu coada inelat\u0103 este complex\u0103. Sunt utilizate semnale de comunicare vizual\u0103, precum pozi\u021biile corpului \u0219i expresiile faciale, pe l\u00e2ng\u0103 comunicarea vocal\u0103. Comunicarea tactic\u0103 este important\u0103 \u00eentre mame \u0219i pui, precum \u0219i \u00eentre ceilal\u021bi membri ai grupului. \u00cen prezent exist\u0103 peste 100 de specii de lemur. \u00centruc\u00e2t tr\u0103iesc \u00eentr-o singur\u0103 zon\u0103 (Madagascar \u0219i \u00een apropiere de Insulelel Comoro), grupul de mamifere compus din lemuri este considerat cel mai periclitat.<\/p><p>\u00a0 Cei mai mul\u021bi lemuri \u00ee\u0219i petrec timpul \u00een copaci. Izolarea pe insula Madagascar a permis speciilor de lemuri s\u0103 evolueze. Este cel mai mare lemur. Starea de conservare a speciilor de lemur variaz\u0103 de la cele vulnerabile (lemurul cu coad\u0103 inelat\u0103, p\u00e2n\u0103 la amenin\u021bate critic cu dispari\u021bia (aye-aye, Sifaka lui Verreaux). Din specia Lemurului Nordic sportiv se estimeaz\u0103 c\u0103 mai sunt aproximativ 50 de exemplare, reprezet\u00e2nd o reducere a popula\u021biei cu peste 80% \u00een ultimii 21 de ani. Cauzele principale care determin\u0103 amenin\u021barea grav\u0103 a speciilor de lemuri constau \u00een primul r\u00e2nd \u00een pierderea habitatului natural urmare a exploat\u0103rilor forestiere \u0219i a defri\u0219\u0103rilor masive pentru agricultur\u0103 \u0219i minerit.
